    On the beach?

    I wouldn't say there are any exact rules, but if you say you met someone at the beach, it is basically just giving the location. Like 'at the store'. If you say you met someone 'on the beach' it sounds like you are talking about meeting someone on the sandy part of the beach.

    Yes. You can say: We met on the beach. We met at the beach. Both sentences are correct and usage would depend on the situation.

    want vs wanted

    I think you could have it either way, want or wanted. Perhaps wanted is technically correct, but it sounds fine if you just say "want". If you Google your sentence, it shows up on a watch site with it written "want".
